Coupons are described as documents or tickets that are mainly used to be exchanged for discounts when purchasing a product or service. They are often part of a company or product's sales promotions, and can usually be seen in magazines, newspapers, online stores, and even directly sent to a mobile device. 
Its history can be connected with the Coca-Cola product whose company used it as part of their marketing strategy. Soon, discount coupons became widespread and were later offered online, leading to the different types that can now be identified.
There are now store specific coupons, which are only used in one store and there are also manufacturing coupons, which are probably more advantageous because it can be used in any shop that is carrying the specific product. Another type is those a membership discount card that gives rewards, which can be topped up or used as a sort of rebate card in groceries or department stores. A more recent type is in the form of mobile coupons which are electronic tickets that are sent to a mobile device, which work the same way as paper coupons.
Most coupons that are offer online provide discounts on new products. This is a way to introduce a product to the general public better that leads to higher awareness among the consumers.
With all these types of discount coupons, a plethora of benefits can be taken advantage of. Among these are the reduced regular prices of a product or service which gives buyers more wiggle room on their budget to try on new merchandise. In addition, these also provide additional purchasing power to buyers and shoppers.
